Creativity Living At The Heart Of Risk!

Creativity

Creativity: When you get down to it no matter what your situation/circumstance is you’re still a creative being.

This is indeed part of who you really are. So whatever it is that you’re putting up with in life, maybe you have a real problem that feels like it will never go away or you are finding yourself stuck in the hum drum daily existence of life… you CAN create the necessary changes needed to take you away from these things.

-This is up to you!

One of the major challenges to one’s authenticity is when a person is having a specific and consistent complaint in life. -Does the following match you?

As that complaint keeps recurring, related to the same situation/circumstance, instead of doing something about it, that person just keeps complaining about it. The response to this person to enlighten them would be: “If you don’t do anything about it then stop complaining!”

So, what changes do you wish to see in your life? Here are a few things you may want to consider to help with your choices. How about choosing a life based on what calls, moves and inspires you to be in action with…? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a major life plan but how about choosing something now in this creative moment?!

One ‘common denominator’ that frequently occurs when answering to the creative call is that it can mean taking the risk. That’s why so many people have stopped listening to the creative voice in their heads telling them to do something with their lives that calls, moves and inspires… It’s because the natural drift for many is to avoid the risk:

To avoid the risk the conversation often goes in way of coming from the cynical and resigned perspective: “Don’t go doing something with your life you’ll get hurt…” For examples, don’t go climbing mountains you’ll fall and get killed. Or, say, don’t be a footballer; you might break a leg… Or, don’t do any acting or playing music you’ll make a fool of yourself on stage… etc., etc.

Sure, the mountain you’ve chosen to climb has no regard, consideration for how able/unable, mentally or physically fit/unfit you are… that the weather conditions may be atrocious at those dizzy heights… Indeed the mountain may be fraught with peril but the fulfillment, feeling of having achieved something with your life brings great satisfaction, a stark contrast to a life of mediocrity when having climbed it.

After all, the truly remarkable Helen Keller famously said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all,“ drawing attention to the importance of embracing challenges and taking risks to live a fulfilling life.

Are you the creative type? What is creativity? Well, no one knows exactly. However, there have been a number of valid statements attempting to define creativity and what it entails in your life.

Creativity is to invent. That means bringing something into existence or into being. This may involve having the courage to trust that everything will turn out just fine. Let me explain.

It is very effective to realize that there are 2 types of trust.

One is the idea that having looked into everything and from what you’ve experienced all looks proven to be trustworthy. That is, trusting something from the point of view of having rationalized or analyzed. For example, you trust someone because he/she has proven to you over time that he/she can now be trusted having earned that trust…

-In other words this is trust as a concept.

Then there’s the other trust which takes real existential courage. It’s way, way above the concept of trust. This is real trust:

Sooner or later in life you will find yourself in a situation where you have to make a decision which will be based on no past experience of trustworthiness, no rational basis, no available data… a leap, at least in part, into the unknown…

In other words you have to be in the presence of trust which goes in the way of ‘I trust that everything will turn out just fine because, quite simply, I trust life…’ This is a vital factor that helps to confront the risk.

For instances, when considering being in a relationship, or starting a new business, or taking to stage performing… you may have rationalized and analyzed like crazy to see if it works. However, there are always those elements of risk. So in the end you chose to ‘just do it’ because you trust that it will work out just fine…because you trust life.

And that’s it!

-Dare you escape your comfort zone through creativity? Dare you trust living the creative life?!

In light of the above, maybe you could make a list of things that you are staying in the complaint with? What could you confront for the possibility of what could be after confronting? What is it that you could achieve through getting the creative juice flowing?

Creativity is key to living your life as a self-expression of who you really are. Creativity is also key to living a life that’s nurturing, whole, fulfilling and complete.
